DISPATCH TO THE FUTURE: A Theatrical journey through central park
Every other year, The Arctic Cycle organizes Climate Change Theatre Action (CCTA), a worldwide festival of readings and performances of short plays about the climate crisis. As part of CCTA 2021, The Arctic Cycle presented a kick-off event in New York City to set the tone for the following three months of the festival.
2021’s event consisted of a guided walk through the northwest corner of New York City’s Central Park. The walk included live performances of three short plays chosen from The Arctic Cycle’s collection of 50 plays commissioned for CCTA 2021 on the theme “Envisioning a Global Green New Deal.” The plays are from the U.S., UK, and Uganda; all were interactive, family-friendly, and promote respect for and connection to nature and one another. Audience members were also invited to participate in the Climate Ribbon arts ritual, launched at the Climate March in NYC in 2014.
