Sami Pyne (she/her) is a New York City–based producer and nonprofit arts leader working across experimental theater, performance, and live events. She is the Producing Director of ArKtype and a Producer of the Under the Radar Festival, where she supports artists, organizations, partners, and clients in bringing ambitious projects into the world.
Sami’s work sits at the intersection of creative partnership and organizational leadership. At Under the Radar, she has been part of the festival’s growth into a year-round, city-wide platform for contemporary performance across 20+ cultural organizations, collaborating with artists, presenters, partners, funders, and cultural leaders from around the world. Her work frequently involves managing high-volume, high-touch events with diverse stakeholders, tight timelines, and elevated expectations around guest experience, hospitality, and technical execution.
At ArKtype, Sami oversees producing and operations for a roster of internationally recognized artists, supporting projects from early development through presentation and touring. Her practice is rooted in close collaboration with artists and presenters, and in helping complex ideas move from concept to reality with clarity and care. This perspective is informed by her ongoing independent producing practice, where she works directly with artists in the development of new projects across a range of scales.
In addition to her organizational roles, Sami has produced and line produced projects across New York City and internationally, working within the city’s expansive theatrical ecosystem. Her collaborators and institutional partners have included, among many: New York Theatre Workshop, HERE Arts Center, The Play Company, TDF, St. Ann’s Warehouse, Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts, and NYU Skirball.
Sami is also an active peer educator and field convener. She has been a guest speaker at Columbia University, Pace University, and The New School. Internationally, she has been invited to speak at the Australian Performing Arts Market in Melbourne, Hong Kong Performing Arts Expo, and the Seoul Performing Arts Festival, and has participated as an invited observer at the Asian Producers Platform Camp in Malaysia. For three years, Sami served as an Advisory Committee Member for the Creative and Independent Producers Alliance.
Across her work, Sami is known as a thoughtful collaborator and problem-solver who enjoys being in process with teams and stakeholders. She is especially interested in making production feel less opaque, more humane, and more accessible, while delivering experiences that are well-run, welcoming, and deeply intentional.
She holds a BFA from Shenandoah Conservatory and an MFA in Theatre Management and Producing from Columbia University School of the Arts.
